It was I believe 1951 when I was last in this room and as is often the case, it seemed far smaller than I remembered it. Some space has been lost to a partitioned off bay at the far end, but the biggest loss I noted was the classic 'Fireman's Pole' which was in the right hand corner. Yet
another victim of Apparently crews now have to race down a spiral staircase that is far more dangerous. |
