Thank
you
for
your
site.
I've
just
had
a
great
blast
from
the
past.
Thank
you
so
much
for
sharing
"your
town".
But
hold
on
-
it's
my
town
too,
even
though
I'm
thousands
of
miles
away
in
beautiful
Vancouver,
British
Columbia.
I
know
Colville
Villas,
and
the
area
around
there
where
you
spent
your
informative
years.
I
lived
on
Alpha
Terrace,
off
Sherwood
Street
for
a
short
while,
and
spent
about
eleven
years
on
St
Anne's
Hill,
off
Woodborough
Road.
The
pub
at
the
bottom
of
South
Sherwood
Street
used
to
be
called
The
Clinton
Arms,
and
I
was
part
of
the
resident
rock
band
there
during
the
heady
days
of
topless
barmaids!
By
Canadian
standards
the
beer
would
be
called
"warm
and
flat".
This
is
just
a
brief
note
of
appreciation
for
your efforts.
So
far,
I
have
only
viewed
the
streets
part
of
your
site
-
I
am
deliberately
leaving
the
rest
to
be
savoured
at
my
leisure
over
the
next
few
evenings.
Paul Flynn, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. 24th July 2010 I came across your website of images and was very impressed by the sheer volume of the body of work you have compiled of Nottingham's architectural heritage. Thank you for leaving insightful notes on most of the images, as it helped me to identify what I saw and photographed, on my last walk around the Lace Market recently. I have lived in Nottingham for nearly 9 years now, and am still on a journey of discovery. I can see your passion for the city's history reflected in all your images. All I can say is well done, and thank you for your valuable contributions for all us web users to enjoy. It is truly a pleasure to view your work.

You
have
a
lovely
collection
of
photos
of
dear
old
Nottingham.
I
was
born
there
too,
and
follow
all
new
developments
with
interest.
I
spend
a
lot
of
time
looking
at
Nottingham
sites
as
I
am
researching
my
family
history I have just been have a browse through your website and think it is absolutely wonderful - some great photographs. Michelle Miles, Calverton, Notts. 29th May 2010 Congratulations on your site. I was born in St Ann's in 1928 but have not been back since 2000, I note the changes from your photos which do not seem to be all for the better. I am into family history and have only been able to find one house my ancestors were born in, all other districts demolished and new estates created.
Thanks
again
for
the
new
views
of
Nottingham.

your

I
really
did

I am in the process of completing an academic monograph on the architecture of the law courts to be published by Routledge later this year. If possible I would like to include a an illustration/photograph of the interior of an historic court. I have had a look at the excellent photos on your website and am very interested in using your photo of the Old City Courts in the Guildhall - NB00559. Professor Linda Mulcahy, Law Dept, LSE, London. 22nd April 2010 Thank
you
also
for
your

it
is
heartening

I

you
can

as
it
is
much
appreciated.
II am
writing to you from the British Cartographic Society. Next year we
are holding our annual symposium in Nottingham and are writing an
article on the city in our magazine MAPLINES. We need some images of
the city to illustrate the article and attract delegates to the
venue. We are a non-profit making organisation.
Would you object to
allowing us to use some of your images in our magazine? The next
issue is due out in December and we would need the image files
within the next two weeks in a resolution suitable for print. From
the text on your web site I assume there would be no charge for
their use. We are happy to put a mention of your web site or a small
advert in the magazine. We are looking to use no more than 5 images,
probably in some sort of collage arrangement alonside the text of
the article. The final number will be determined by the space
available.
As a photographer myself
may I congratulate you on your fine collection of images. I look
forward to hearing from you soon.
Best wishes Martin Lubikowski, Maplines Editor. 10th November 2009
Brilliant!
Very
many
thanks

You
have
helped
me
tremendously! I have lived in Western Australia for over 42 years and have just found your site. Thank you so much for reuniting me with the Nottingham, mostly as I knew it. I found your site purely by chance after scrolling from another site. You have brought back so many memories for me. I am close to 70 now and it is unlikely that I will ever get back there but at least I can visit now whenever I want to. I can also show my children the city of my childhood.

well
done.
May
I
make
a
suggestion
can
we
have
photos

I'm
a
Notts
fan
but
I
guess
we
have
to
include

Trent

Thanks

Ray
keep
up
the
good
work. Excellent Website - Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed looking through the "buildings" section of your site. Initially came on to find a picture of Victoria Rail Station, I'm 46 and my memory doesn't quite stretch far enough back. However, I found myself whizzing round lots of other fascinating buildings. Completely agree with your comments re CCAN! Keep up the good work.

I

of

Bertie Cordingley, Location Unknown, 9th September 2008 I would just like to say what a fan I am of your site. Since moving to Nottingham a few months ago, I've taken a keen interest in the history of my new home. I have been devouring all the local history books in the local library, and your site is an excellent reference for comparing old pictures in the books with modern-day Nottingham. Long may your work continue, I'm sure it will be appreciated for many generations to come! Heather Hanger, Nottingham, 22nd August 2008 II've only just discovered your web site showing lot of photos of Nottingham. Not being born in Nottingham, though I've lived here for 40 years, there are still lots of areas & things I've never seen, & I'm happily rediscovering them through your lovely photos.
