This still beautiful pergola that divides the bottom lake from the Japanese Water Garden has been off limits to visitors for several years because it is falling down. But this is just part of a greater hidden problem. I'm told by the General Manager that there is a serious engineering problem with the dam upon which the pergola stands that will cost 'millions' to fix. Another sad illustration of why funds are so urgently needed for general maintenance and restoration works. |
