Nottingham Streets

Broad Marsh

This street sign and the building to which it is attached are the only reminder of the old Broad Marsh which in the early 20th century, along with Narrow Marsh had some of the worst slums in the UK.

These were cleared long before my time but I well remember the road that started here and led to the old Broad Marsh Bus Station that was erected on the cleared lands and bounded by the blue brick arches of the LNER railway as it left Nottingham Victoria via Weekday Cross and headed south across Canal Street towards London.
