Lincoln Street runs between Clumber Street and George Street. This shot was taken looking towards George Street and shows a row of workers cottages probably used by stocking or lace makers or possibly hand loom workers. Note the top floor windows. This would have been the working area and therefore needed all the light it was possible to get. There would have been many houses like this, but very few now survive in the city centre | |
