Nottingham Streets

 

In the 18th century James Hargreaves, inventor of the spinning jenny, had a factory in this street and the sign on it proclaimed it to be 'The First Cotton Mill in the World'. Pity no trace remains today.

Wollaton Street, as with Derby Road is now one way and carries traffic from the west (A52) into the city centre. This view from Canning Circus shows the road unusually quiet.

Apart from the building centre, which I believe used to be a theatre, there is very little of interest on this street until one reaches the bottom end near Theatre Square. The road to the left is Talbot Street
