Nottingham Buildings

This lodge / gatehouse was designed by architect Jeffry Wyatville around 1832 following the Reform Riots of October 1831 when Nottingham Castle was burnt to the ground by rioters.

Wollaton feared a similar fate and this building, unlike the ornate Lenton Lodge is purely functional and defensive with narrow rifle slots at ground level.
