Plaque to commemorate the fact that the house was the residence of French General Marshal Tallard. |

This house dates from around 1675 and was for a while the residence of French General Marshal Tallard who was captured at the Battle of Blenheim in 1704. In the early 1960's this beautiful house it was in a very poor state of repair but when the area was re-developed along the then brand new Maid Marion Way, the house was saved and restored. I think it's the finest house of the period in the city. During demolition of the properties that used to surround it, I recall that substantial caves were uncovered on the site | |
