Nottingham Buildings

The Odeon Cinema

Angel Row

This is a poor photograph of a very sad building.

In it's day the Odeon was one of the very best of Nottingham cinemas and before being carved up it had a large single screen and was equipped to show some of the first 'surround sound' movies.  I well remember seeing 'The Longest Day' (D- Day epic) here and the sound was fantastic.

This was also the 1964 venue for The Beatles live concerts.

The cinema was built in 1933 as The Ritz

It now awaits the wrecking ball and subsequent re-development of this prime site.
