Nottingham Contemporary
Exhibition - Pablo Bronstein and the Treasures of Chatsworth
Weekday Cross

This exhibition runs from the 4th July to the 20th September 2015

As I have said before, I'm not a great fan of modern art but the opportunity to see some of the treasures from Chatsworth House recently lured me back into The Nottingham Contemporary. Without flash, the lighting was not conducive with great photography, but below are photographs that I took of just a few items on display.
Whilst it was interesting to see the Chatsworth treasures, they seemed out of place in the cold environment of The Contemporary and they,  and all the other thousands of treasures are far better viewed in the home environment of
Chatsworth House itself.

Surprisingly, what I found most impressive and  well executed was the wall art / graphic art by Pablo Bronstein.  He has in one room expertly managed to capture views of Chatsworth House from angles that are impossible to see at the house even from the air and these have been set on a dark purple background and illuminated for the best effect.  In another room he has produced a frieze on all four walls depicting tombs and churches along the Via Appia in Rome.

The exhibition is well worth a visit, especially if one can't reach Chatsworth House itself, and it's FREE !
